Why are these Valais so expensive?

Why are these Valais so expensive?

Here are some insights-

Artificial insemination of the EWE

Artificial insemination of the EWE involves a multi-step process that takes over five months to produce one lamb. The first step is to purchase semen from a reputable source overseas (now available in the USA). Once you have the semen, it must be shipped to a reproductive veterinarian. The veterinarian will then inseminate the EWE using 100% Valais semen. The entire process costs between $2,000 and $ 6,000, and the success rate ranges from 60% to 75%.

Transferring the fertilized embryo to the surrogate ewe

One must acquire a surrogate sheep or two, depending on their readiness to receive the fertilized egg. The embryo, which is very costly, is then transferred to the recipient ewe. This crucial step is performed by a reproductive sheep specialist veterinarian, whose expertise is paramount in ensuring the success of the process. As a result, the entire process can incur significant costs, reaching tens of thousands of dollars  to produce one lamb. And the success rate  is ONLY 50% to 55%
